Upstart is open for submissions from the 15th of December and closes on the 4th of February.
Artists are requested to submit their work digitally through emails. Instructions for each discipline are outlined here. Due to the public nature of this exhibition we ask you to consider the suitability of the work you wish to submit especially in regard to it being age appropriate. To ensure that your work is eligible for inclusion please adhere to the technical instructions of the submissions process. This is to maintain consistency of quality for the printing stage.
After due consideration poster prints will not be credited with the artist name. The reason for this is to protect the art from theft and to unify the body work under the banner of the project. However at the completion of the exhibition the work hosted online will be credited to the artist.
It is very important that all submissions are made through your email address and include your name and title of the piece along with the link to download the file.
Print work
Print submissions should be sent via a large file hosting service such as yousendit or sendspace to prints@upstart.ie. Submissions should be portrait in orientation - landscape will not be accepted. The minimum file size requirement is 200x300mm at 300dpi RGB*. The submission limit for this project is 500 works. Should submissions exceed this target a selection process will be employed. Each chosen work will be printed 800x1200mm twice and one of each will be erected North and South of the city centre alongside election posters. The work will also be hosted on our website. Please make sure to adhere to all submission guidelines for your piece to be eligible.
*RGB files are required for hosting online. Conversion for print will be handled by UpStart.

Writers should submit their text to words@upstart.ie A format for the presentation of all written submissions will be designed to provide visual unity to the project. To ensure that your text will fit on the poster please consult the guidelines regarding line count and character count outlined below. Also include a character count of your submission and any specific instructions you may have regarding how you would like your text to be presented.
The character and line count limits are as follows:
Option 1 - max 70 characters over 6 lines
Option 2 - max 110 over 8 lines
Option 3 - max 220 characters over 11 lines
Music
All music and word submissions will be uploaded to the UpStart website and for visitors to listen to. Music submissions should be sent via a large file hosting service such as yousendit or sendspace as a wav at 44.1kHz /16bits or as a stereo mp3 at 320k/bits to music@upstart.ie

Film, animations, and motion graphic submissions should be sent via a large file hosting service such as yousendit or sendspace to film@upstart.ie. Film submissions will be presented on our website. We request that your submission format be a quicktime (.mov) at 640x480 [pixels]
