Q. Will UpStart be curated, and if so how does the curation process work?
A. Yes.
UpStart will draw on the collaborative expertise of its core panel of artists, filmmakers,
designers and event coordinators to select and exhibit the work. Upstart will consider
work in any medium, including painting, photography, print, film and animation.
Q.
Is there a set theme for the artwork?
A. No. Upstart is an open project not led by
any specific theme or concept. UpStart aims to encourage new ideas, perceptions and
generate dialogue.
Q. Does it have to be a new work?
A. No, however work should be
recent and original.
Q. Do you have to be Irish to submit work?
A. There are no geographical
restrictions. UpStart is open to all nationalities.
Q. Will the video and music be
exhibited anywhere else other than the website?
A. Yes. UpStart will hold a screening
of the film, animation and music works during the exhibition period.
Q. When will
I know if my work has been selected?
A. Artists whose work is selected for exhibition
will be notified before the campaign starts.
Q. Will work be reproduced anywhere
else other than the posters?
A. If selected for the exhibition, Upstart will ask the
artist to agree to the reproduction of their work in association with the exhibition
(including publicity, press and website).
Q. Where do the printed pieces go at the
end of the campaign?
A. UpStart will hold a public auction of all printed pieces at
the end of the campaign. All profits will be used to cover costs incurred by UpStart.
Q.
How is the initiative funded, and where does the money go?
A. Upstart is kindly supported
by the generosity of both private and public organisations and individuals. All money
generated by Upstart is used to enhance the ambition of the project.
Q. Can the work
be any shape? Can it be in a square format?
A. Yes it can. Bear in mind though that
the physical poster size will not change. The image will be positioned with equal
space above and below the edges of the poster.
